EU Ambassadors visit Myitkyina

A group of European Union diplomats will visit Myitkyina (Kachin State) on 12 and 13 March 2013. The delegation comprises representatives from twelve EU Embassies accredited to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, including eight Ambassadors, and is led by the Ambassador of France representing locally the EU at this moment.

This fact-finding mission includes meetings with the Kachin Government, religious leaders, UN Agencies and NGOs. Visits of IDP Camps are foreseen.

The EU diplomats will use this opportunity to discuss political and humanitarian issues related to the situation in Kachin State and to reaffirm the EU commitment to support the peace process and efforts promoting human rights and the provision of humanitarian aid.
