Delimitation of the maritime border between Bangladesh and Myanmar/Burma
Ruling issued by the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea on the delimitation of the maritime border between Bangladesh and Myanmar/Burma: French official statements (15.03.2012)
Yesterday, the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS), established by the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea of 1982, and which is headquartered in Hamburg, issued its ruling in the dispute between Bangladesh and Burma on the delimitation of their maritime border in the Bay of Bengal.
France welcomes this ruling by the Tribunal, which is the first ruling it has issued in a maritime delimitation case between two States. Such a ruling makes a solid contribution to the peaceful settlement of disputes, as well as to the respect for international law, to which France is attached.
